World War I

World War one seems to me to be the maximum amount of hell a person could go through at that time. When the presentation was talking about how teenagers in high school would be excited to leave home and go join, then die in the army, I was speechless. The scariest part of the war for a person to be in would be when the enemy is hitting you with mustard gas. It is terrible some of the gruesome images shown with people that have been touched by that foul gas. But the thing that really made me sick was when i saw the death toll of the entire war... 9,000,000 soldiers died, thats not even counting civilian deaths or the injuries to both sides. Something else i thought was pretty cool was how the wrist watch started being used because of a war and the age of the pocket watch came to an end. It is a very interesting topic to learn about and i learned a lot through this experience.
